This is a large wasp with curled antennae and a very painful sting, classified in the family Pompilidae. It stings and paralyzes tarantulas to serve as food for its developing young. It was collected on a prickly pear cactus plant in Oatman, Arizona on January 5, 2015. This photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P520 camera.
